+ What do levels mean? What level can I teach with the level I hold?

Most ski instructor qualification bodies have 4 levels:

  1. Teach first time skiers up until learning how to turn
  2. Teach skiers how to make parallel turn on groomed terrain
  3. Teach skiers of all abilities in all terrain situations
  4. Train people to become ski instructors and develop all mountain skiers to become high performance skiers.

+ Is it achievable to gain Level 1 and 2 certifications in 1 year?

Yes, it's possible for you to attain both Level 1 and 2 certifications in one season if you are a determined skier and attend regular ski training prior to the certification process.

+ Where can I work with NZSIA ski instructor certifications?

NZSIA instructor certifications are recognised all around the world. Many NZSIA qualified ski instructors work in New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, Chile, Czech Republic, Poland, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Andorra, Norway, Sweden, Finland, UK, Canada, USA, Japan, China and South Korea to name a few. After you complete your ski instructor qualifications with Rookie Academy EU, we can help you find your dream job.

+ Can I teach independently with my new ski instructor qualifications?

The short answer is no. In order for you to teach on a mountain you must be employed by a registered snow sports school in your resort of choice. Certain countries and regions of the world will allow ski instructors to teach with their own guests for a limited ammount of time, if you travel to and from the resort with the guests. Before undertaking something like this we highly recommend referring to the ski resort and country or region laws regarding independent snow sports instruction.

+ Do I need a Work Permit/Visa to be employed as a ski instructor in a country other than where I hold residence?

Once you are hired by a snow sport school, they will generally organise the work permit/visa process. If you need to apply for the work permit/visa yourself, the relevant snow sport school will provide you a guide on how to apply.

+ Can you help me find a job after I become a qualified instructor?

Yes. We have a wide network of contacts throughout the snow sports world and we can try and find you the best job to suit your wants and needs.

+ Where can I earn the most money as a newly qualified instructor?

Typically Japan and Australia have the highest pay rates for newly qualified instructors. We can assist you in securing a job in these destinations once you become qualified.

+ What equipment will I need?

You will need warm ski clothing, ski boots, skis and poles, helmet and anything else you might need in an alpine environment to keep you warm and safe. Check out our recommendations here

+ Do I need insurance?

Yes. We recommend you buy travel insurance which covers you for winter sports. You can also buy on the hill insurance when you purchase a lift pass for Via Lattea.

+ How much do your ski training products cost?
